Today we celebrate National Best Friend Day!   This day has special meaning for both Emily and me as we had babies on this day in 2011.

Today, our little birthday buddy daughters turn seven and we want to encourage you to celebrate your friendships this summer with Women In the New Evangelization (W.I.N.E) as they kick off their summer book club with The Friendship Project.    We encourage you to take this opportunity to order the awesome new journal to accompany The Friendship Project from W.I.N.E. and invite your friends!

How does it work?

The WINE Summer Fun is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3 … 4!

1. SIGN UP FOR OUR WINE EMAILS

The book club will cover one chapter a week. Beginning July 8th, a fun Friendship Project Reflection, which corresponds to each week’s readings and written by special WINE friends, will be posted online. You can opt to have it emailed directly to you as well.  Don’t miss these or any other special Summer Book Club notices.  Sign up here —> WINE Emails

2. ORDER THE BOOK

Why order through the online WINE shop? Simple. Your purchase through the WINE shop supports all the wonderful work of WINE ministries, a nonprofit ministry for women.  It is also the only place to purchase The Friendship Project companion journal – filled with insightful reflections, includes the small group questions, and of course, coloring pages.

A little about this great book: The Friendship Project by Michele Faehnle and Emily Jaminet explores the cardinal and theological virtues with an eye toward friendship. Focusing on faith, hope, love, prudence, gratitude, loyalty, generosity, and prayerfulness, they help us answer questions such as, “What does it mean to be women of hope, and how does that change our lives and make us more compassionate friends during difficult times?” and “How does prayerfulness teach us how to listen to and talk with both God and our friends, which helps us reach out to those we love?”

Faehnle and Jaminet answer these questions and more by employing Church teaching and telling us stories of their own friendships and those from the lives of saints and biblical women—including the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Elizabeth, St. Thérèse of Lisieux and her sister Servant of God Léonie, and Sts. Perpetua and Felicity. Not only will you be drawn closer to friends both new and old but you’ll also be reminded how these friendships—and the virtues you practice to nurture them—draw you closer to God.

3. START A READ BETWEEN THE WINES BOOK CLUB

WINE makes it easy to bring together a faith sharing group to discuss The Friendship Project.  WINE offers step by step guidelines AND one to one assistance if needed.  To get started:

  1. Invite friends and/or women you’d like to become friends with (as them to invite friends as well) to join you for an 8-week book club;
  2. Purchase the BOOK  from the WINE shop;
  3. Become a WINE MEMBER (*various levels available – including free. Memberships support the nonprofit work of WINE);
  4. Sign up for the WINE EMAILS (no spam, we promise).

4. JOIN THE WINE VIRTUAL COMMUNITY

WINE brings women together from across the world to share their faith through the many WINE book offerings.  There are many ways to participate including discussions on our blog or the WINE Book Clubs Facebook group.  This summer we’ll be reaching even further to assure every woman who wants to connect with others through WINE, can!

These are women, just like you, reading either The Friendship Project or one of the many Read Between the WINES books and journals available through WINE.  Whether you participate in the virtual community to enhance your small group reading or because you need a faith sharing group, the WINE Virtual Vineyard is the place to be.

Aside from the CatholicVineyard.com posts and discussions, you can join us on Facebook.  Like our WINE Facebook Page; and then become a part of the WINE Book Clubs private group.  Be sure to invite your friends!
