As we travel the country speaking about Divine Mercy for Moms, we usually kick off the talk with our favorite quote from St. John Paul II, “In the Design of Providence there are no mere coincidences.” As Emily and I ponder our friendship, we have come to realize that our friendship did not happen by chance, but by the grace of God. We met in college at Franciscan University of Steubenville over twenty years ago. Over time, our friendship has changed, and more importantly, it has deepened. As we look back, we have seen God’s hand working in our relationship. I met my husband at Emily’s wedding and we became engaged on Emily and John’s first anniversary. Over the years, we’ve worked together in many Catholic outreaches, from Catholic radio to our local Catholic Women’s Conference, all of which have led to our writing, speaking, and blogging ministry for Catholic women. Perhaps the biggest “God incidence” was when we had babies on the same day, in the same hospital, just down the hall from each other. Today, we celebrate the sixth anniversary of this special day, June 8th, which happens to be National Best Friend day, with an awesome special for you! It’s our buy one give one campaign for our new book, The Friendship Project: The Catholic Women’s Guide to Making and Keeping Fabulous Faith Filled Friends.

God has shown us in a very personal and direct way that good, holy friendships can transform us as well as those we encounter. We also have come to realize what a gift it is to have faith-filled friends in our lives to support us in our journey and how they have helped transform us into the women we are today. Grow in your friendships with others and God with The Friendship Project. As St. Aelred of Rievaulx writes, “Friendship is a step toward the love and knowledge of God.”
This is awesome. I am so excited for you all! Peace & blessings.
